My Summer Essentials
It is finally starting to feel like summer here in St. Louis! It basically rained or was cloudy all of June, so we had one pool day since I had been home from school! We have been having more pool days in one week of July than we had the entire month of June, so now it really does feel like the summer! So, now that it feels like summer, I decided to let you guys know what my summer essentials have been so far!
ONE // Self Tanner
Okay, I know that the summer is for getting a natural tan, but I always like to start with a base tan before vacation or even at the beginning of the summer. I used self tanner all of June since it was so cloudy and I couldn't get outside, but I felt healthy and glowy and overall more confident after I self tan. I use the Rodan and Fields Foaming Sunless Tan. My mom's friend is a consultant which is why I get Rodan and Fields, but it smells really good and goes on clear so you won't stain your clothes or your sheets, and you don't even have to wash it off after a certain amount of time! Definitely a more low maintenance self tanner, but it still gets the job done and looks great!
TWO // AirPods
I know everyone and their mother has AirPods now, but if you are against them or are skeptical about them, get them. They're so worth the hype! I already use them for like literally every single Apple device that I have, but I love them even more in the summer. If you're laying out by the pool, the beach, or travelling somewhere for a summer vacation, these babies are the best! They automatically connect to your phone or whatever Apple device you want to use them with, there are no wires so you're not tied down to your phone, and they're great for tanning because no wire tan lines! I love just sitting outside with my cup of coffee in the morning and listening to a podcast or watching a YouTube video through my AirPods. Seriously love them for everything!
THREE // Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
I talked about this in my monthly favorites post, but this stuff just smells like summer! I love using this after I shower or after being in the sun while keeping the summer vibes going! I only have the mini one since it was obviously cheaper than the full size one, but I might have to bite the bullet and buy the full sized one when I run out!
FOUR // A Good Book
Whether sitting outside, traveling, or even just inside during a summer thunderstorm, I love reading! I've been trying to read a lot more this year and I've been loving reading so far this summer, especially since I am no longer busy with school. For summer I've been wanting to read more books that take place in the summer, on a beach, or those nonfiction, self help type of books. I'll talk more about these books when I round up all of my July reads at the end of the month, but I'm currently reading Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis, and bought The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand to read on my trip to Rhode Island in two weeks!
FIVE // Whiteclaw
This is for my 21 and up pals! Guys I love Whiteclaw! I'm not really into mixed drinks lately and have been ordering these at the bars at college this past semester. But, although Whiteclaws are amazing all year round, they're the best drink for poolside! They're only 100 calories, they have 2g of carbs, and are 5% alcohol! I'm not a beer fan so while my parents are lounging in the pool drinking a beer, I reach into a cooler and pull out a Whiteclaw and am good to go! My favorite flavor is the lime, but I definitely do not discriminate!
SIX // Drink Koozie
If you're sitting by the pool or at the beach and sipping a drink, it's nice to have the drink stay cool for awhile! I know Yeti sells these, but my family uses RTIC which has the exact same products as Yeti, but they're cheaper! I think they're sold out of the ones we have because I can't find them on their website, but they're stainless steal Koozies! They have all different sizes for beer cans, Whiteclaw cans, and even short, wide ones with lids to make mixed drinks in! I highly suggest browsing their website because they also have coffee cups, big tumblers, a ton of accessories and so much more! They're the best!
SEVEN // After Sun Lotion
This is for all my pale gals out there! Even though I always wear sunscreen and reapply it, my skin still gets pretty read and burnt. My mom bought the Banana Boat After Sun Lotion and I love it! I have used after every pool day! It has aloe in it which instantly calms and cools my skin after being out in the sun and in the pool all day.
EIGHT // Summer Playlist
My family and I made a big, collaborative summer playlist for when we're in the pool. We love it because this way we never have to find a different playlist every time we want to go outside, there are songs that everyone enjoys on it, and we rarely have to skip a song. Our playlist currently has over 250 songs on it so we rarely here the same song twice! Highly recommend for in the car, in the pool, or even just walking around the house/running errands.
Thanks for reading! Let me know what some of your summer essentials are!
