May-July 2020 Content Consumption

Image
Today's post is one of my favorite posts to write: a content roundup!  I love watching people's YouTube videos and read people's blog posts about what they've been loving, and it's been so fun rating and keeping track of everything I am reading and watching.  So here is an update on what I've consumed the past few months, and hope you all enjoy! BOOKS "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" by Taylor Jenkins Reid: 10/10 //  This is in my top 10 reads of the year so far.  It is so incredible and I was pretty much glued to my iPad throughout the book.  It's about a writer who is tasked with writing a memoir about a very prominent and private actress, Evelyn Hugo.  There was even a HUGE twist at the end of the book that I was not expecting at all, and it was just so so incredible.  Highly recommend! "In Five Years" by Rebecca Serle: 10/10 //  This is another top 5 read for the year!  This is about a girl who just got engaged and has her whole li...

What I Learned at 22

Image
As you all are reading this, it is my 23rd birthday!  This year has been absolutely crazy and definitely not what I expected to come from it, but I've loved everything about it and wouldn't change anything (except maybe the global pandemic part...).  I always love to reflect on the past year and see how I've changed.  Each year I feel like I'm growing more and more into myself and I genuinely really like who I'm becoming.  So here are just a few things that I've learned in the past year, and I can't wait to see what 23 will bring! MAN PLANS, GOD LAUGHS //  I've really learned the truth of this in the past year.  I did not see myself taking an unpaid internship after graduating from college.  But that internship opened so many doors for me.  It gave me incredible experience, taught me what I wanted in the future, introduced me to one of my best friends, and gives me great volunteering opportunities.  I also took my first adult job at the...

5 Things That Make Me Happy

Image
Lately, I've been feeling kind of down.  This is the first summer I've been home from college where I truly feel like an adult.  My friends from home are all heading back to school way early, my friends from college are five hours away, and I'm working 9 to 5 Monday through Friday.  I've been feeling kind of lonely the past few days and have even been thinking "Am I going to be this boring for the rest of my life?" The answer is no, I am not going to be this boring for the rest of my life.  I'm at a weird in-between stage in my life, and the frustration from it is so frustrating.  In honor of this feeling I've been having lately, here is a list of some things that make me happy, in hope that they'll make you happy if you're stuck in a rut, too! ONE // Reading I've mentioned this in multiple posts, but I've always loved reading, ever since I was little.  Book stores were like heaven to me, and I would have to be dragged out.  ...

Why I Chose Bradley University

Image
For those of you who don't know, I just finished my junior year at Bradley University.  Although I have had my ups and downs at my school, I absolutely love it and am so blessed to be able to attend such a good school and receive the quality education that I get. But as a senior, in high school, this was not an easy decision for me to make.  Even though decision day has passed for current seniors, I wanted to share how I ended up picking Bradley University. Orientation the summer before my freshman year As a senior in high school, I was different than most of my peers because I only applied to two colleges.  Yup, two .  I looked at way more, but there were only two schools that I could really see myself at, and those were Bradley University and the University of Missouri - or Mizzou.   These schools are so different from each other.  Mizzou is a huge state school that the majority of people in my hometown of St. Louis attend, and there...

2018 Goals

Image
I have read so many blog posts and watched so many YouTube videos on New Year's resolutions, and I swore that I wouldn't do a post on it.  It seemed so over done, and they were all generally the same.  However, I have been thinking of some things that I want to accomplish in 2018 both mentally and physically, and I ultimately decided to write this post to keep myself accountable and to actually keep up with what I want to accomplish. So, without further ado, here are my 2018 goals: ONE  // Fitnesss Yes, I know so typical.  But I'm not trying to lose a ton of weight, or get a perfect beach body, or go to the gym every day or something completely crazy that I know I won't accomplish.  At my school, I dance three times a week with my dance team which is a great workout, but I'd like to do a little more.  I want to get back into shape, and add a little more muscle definition.  So, my goal is to go to the gym at least once a week that is not for da...

20 Facts About Me

Image
Hi everyone!  I hope you all had a great holiday.  I definitely did!  My "What I Got For Christmas" post should be coming tomorrow, but in the mean time, I thought I would do a "20 Facts About Me" post so you can get to know me a little better.  Enjoy! 1. I am 20 years old and a junior in college. 2. I am from the Saint Louis area. 3. I'm allergic to medicines, but not any food. 4. I have been dancing since I was 2 years old and continue to dance in college. 5. I have an extra ligament on my tongue, and can't stick my tongue out. 6. I know everything there is to know about Harry Potter and have read the entire series about 10 times.  However Prisoner of Azkaban, my favorite book in the series, I have read way more than 10 times - I've actually lost count of how many times I've read it. 7. I didn't start liking coffee until sophomore year of college. 8. People hate watching my favorite movies with me because I can usually quote them word...
