Summer 2019 Night Routine

A few weeks ago, a shared my self care summer routine, which consists of a long, drawn out morning routine.  So, since I shared how I start out my mornings, I thought it would be fun to share my night routine for this summer!  It definitely does not have as many components as my morning does, but it is a great way for me to wind down and really get ready for bed.  So without further ado, here is my summer night routine!

TV TIME WITH FAMILY // After I eat dinner with my family, we usually put something on Netflix or whatever sporting event is on that night.  We all have pretty busy schedules so this is usually our time to hang out, catch up on our day, and just spend some time together.  This is usually around 7/7:30 so this is really when my evening gets started!

CHANGE INTO PAJAMAS // Around 9/9:30 I usually head upstairs to start unwinding from my day.  I usually wear a big tee shirt from college, some comfy shorts or some joggers to bed.  I also take off my jewelry,, throw my hair up into a pony tail or bun, and just get into some comfy clothes!

QUIET TIME // After getting comfy, it's time for my nightly quiet time.  One of my New Year's Resolutions was to get better at making time to read my Bible and one of my goals is to read the entire Bible.  I've been a little bit behind so instead of having quiet time once a day, I do twice a day to catch up, but honestly I don't mind it and it doesn't feel like extra work for me!  So I sit on my bed, find the chapters I am supposed to read for that session, and have some quiet time.

SKIN CARE // After I finish up with my quiet time, it is time to take off the day!  At this point, I'll take out my contacts, take of my makeup if I was wearing any, put on my moisturizer, and brush my teeth.

ESSENTIAL OILS // My essential oils diffuser is seriously one of my favorite things ever.  After my skin care is done and I have brushed my teeth, I fill my diffuser with water and put a few drops of my lavender "Asleep" essential into my diffuser and get it going.  I have this essential oil diffuser from Amazon and my asleep oil is from Target.

READ // Once my diffuser is going, I throw on my Laneige Lip Mask and crack open the book that I am currently reading.  I try to read a chapter or two every day so that I can read as many books this year as possible!  I am still reading Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis like I said in my last post, but I am definitely enjoying it so far!

LIGHTS OUT // Once my eyes start to get heavy and I am ready to fall asleep, I put my book away, turn off my lights, and put on a podcast with the sleep timer on.  I'm one of those people who can not sleep in complete silence so I need a little noise to put me out.  Sometimes I'll put on a show like Parks and Recreation on Netflix on my TV, but lately I've been into podcasts.  So I just put on whatever episode I'm listening to lately with a sleep timer so it's not on all night, and then head to sleep!

Thanks so much for reading!  Let me know what your night routine for the summer is in a comment.

xoxo, Hannah
