The Real Deal

Over Valentine's Day weekend, my brother came back home to St. Louis for the weekend, which usually means a family brunch on Sunday!  We had been talking for so long about trying this boozy brunch out, and we certainly were not disappointed! We started our meal out with bottomless mimosas!  The waitress gives you a bracelet to know which members of the party ordered bottomless mimosas and bring out pitchers for refills instead of having to wait for every time the waitress comes out, which I loved!  We started with a pitcher of the classic mimosas with just champagne and orange juice, and another pitcher of the Wheelmosa, which is pineapple, Sprite, Aperol, and rosé. The Wheelmosa ended up being a favorite at the table, although the original ones were good too! We love the holidays.  And by we, I mean the women in my family!  My mom, grandma, and I would start decorating for Christmas on November 1st if we could.  Excessive?  Absolutely.  But the Christmas season is incredibly short, so we like to soak up as much of it as possible before it’s over. About a month or so ago, my mom made reservations for a pop up Christmas bar in St. Louis.  There are a few around St. Louis, but the one we were going to is called Miracle STL.  We had a kind of off time for a reservation, 4:30 on a Tuesday.  All of the tables in the bar are reservation only, but the bar is first come first serve.  You can also only stay at the table for a certain amount of time, depending on how many people are a part of the reservation.  We had 3 people, so we could stay for an hour and fifteen minutes.  That way people aren’t hogging tables and everyone can get a chance to enjoy the bar! One thing that I’ve always been obsessed with are Charcuterie boards.  Cheese is one of my favorite foods, and all the different combinations on one plate make for a great appetizer.  I’ve even gone out with my mom and all we’ve eaten is the cheese board and been full and satisfied! I’ve been wanting to make our own charcuterie board since over the summer, and we’ve just never had a good time to do it.  My family is very small, so most of our gatherings are very informal and we didn’t want our board to go to waste.  We hosted Thanksgiving at our house this year, and my mom and I thought that this would be the perfect time to finally break out the cheese board.  We did spend quite a large amount on everything for the cheese board, but it was so worth it and it all went over well. Since I was absent on this blog for so long, I think it's time for a sort of "life update" type post.  I've posted what I've done and everything, but what are my favorites?  What am I currently loving or doing?  I found a template on Pinterest filled with questions to answer, and thought it would be a nice way to document where I'm at for me, and for you guys to see what I've been doing and loving lately! I Still Love You  by Jenny Han.  It's the sequel to To All the Boys I've Loved Before .  I had seen the Netflix movie, so I figured, why not read the book?  It's very  high school and a quick and easy read, but I seriously enjoyed it!  It ended with a pretty big cliffhanger, and I'm already about 60 pages into this one.  I'll most likely end up reading the third one too. Since I basically didn't post all of this past semester, I thought I would do a quick recap of what I did!  Prepare for a long and picture heavy post! I started out the semester by celebrating my 21st birthday with my friends from school!  My sorority does something called a "Paddle Party" when someone turns 21.  I joined together with five other girls in my pledge class who had birthdays over the summer so we could all celebrate together, and my best friend made my paddle for me! With that, my birthday celebrations were officially over after three whole months!  I then spent the next few weeks as a Rho Gamma, or recruitment counselor.  This means that I disaffiliated from my sorority and had a small group of girls going through recruitment, and helped them find the best sorority for them. I had so much fun getting to know so many other women in other sororities, and met people that I otherwise would not have been friends with.  I also helped...

I just got back on Monday from a 10 day trip to one of my favorite places: Rhode Island!  My grandma was born and raised there, and moved to St. Louis after she married my grandpa, so her entire family lives up there.  My uncle (my grandma's brother) lives in my great-grandmother's beach house during the summer, so every summer, my family packs up, and we head up to the beach house for the summer!  I've been going since I was literally two months old, and a Rhode Island travel guide will be coming up on the blog soon!
