What I Eat At College

This year is really the first year that I have started cooking for myself.  Freshman year I lived in a dorm, so I would either eat microwavable macaroni and cheese, eat at the dining halls, or go out to eat.  Sophomore year I lived in a sorority house, so we had a chef that cooked lunch and dinner for us throughout the week.  This year, I live in an off campus house which means I have to go grocery shopping for myself and actually cook some meals.  It took a lot of getting used to in the beginning, but now it's actually kinda fun to plan out what I want to eat and make it.  So here is what I eat throughout the week.

BREAKFAST

What I eat for breakfast usually depends on how much time I have in the morning.  On the mornings that I have dance practice at 7am, I usually eat a Chobani flip cup yogurt.  These things are so good!  There are so many different flavors that I never get bored of having them!

I also buy Quaker Oats to make my own oatmeal at home.  I just add some almond milk and put it in the microwave for 2 min.  I then add brown sugar and peanut butter, and I am good to go!  It's seriously so delicious!

I also bought some peanut butter chocolate Cheerios that I have some mornings which are also delicious.  I also don't think that cereal should be confined to one meal out of the day, so sometimes I'll eat it for lunch or a snack as well.

On weekends, I usually make scrambled eggs and toast.  I also buy red peppers to cut up and add to the eggs as well to give them a little more flavor.  For toast, I usually have a toasted English muffin with almond butter that I also eat as a snack some days.

And of course, my morning is not complete without a cup of coffee!  My Keurig is my best friend.  And for creamer, I use the Silk Almond Creamer in Caramel!

LUNCH

My lunch is usually pretty boring.  Usually, I just eat whatever I have leftover from dinner the night before.  If I don't have leftovers, I'll have a Lean Cuisine frozen dinner, and lately I've been into the Annie's brand macaroni and cheese.  The noodles are shaped like bunnies.  I mean come on, you can't beat that!

I also love to have smoothie bowls!  I'm not super good and picking out what fruits to put in smoothies, so I just buy the pre-made pouch of Jamba Juice smoothies at the grocery store.  All you do is pour the bag of fruit in the blender, add a cup of apple juice, and blend!  So easy and so good!  I usually top with peanut butter, granola, chocolate chips, and honey.

SNACKS

I'm usually starving when I get back from class around 4:30, but I definitely don't want to eat dinner that early.  So, I'll have a snack.  Some of the things I have for snacks are peanut butter filled pretzels, pita chips and hummus, or tortilla chips and also.  All are delicious and relatively good for you.  I'm usually filled up until it's time to cook dinner!

DINNER

I'm by no means a master chef, but my dinners usually consist of me cooking a bunch of things and then throwing them all into a bowl.  For a base I'll either have quinoa or brown rice, and my meat is always chicken.  I'll by frozen broccoli, peas and carrots, and a red pepper, and cook whichever one I'm in the mood for.  Sometimes I'll cook eggs as well and throw a combination of all of this together into some sort of dinner bowl.  I usually put soy sauce on top for a little extra flavor.

If I don't feel like cooking, I'll usually make a personal size frozen pizza, or pasta with vodka or marinara sauce.  Nothing too exciting!  I usually make a double batch of whichever dinner I make and then save the leftovers for lunch the next day.

DESSERT

I tray to not buy too much sweet stuff while at school because I have no self control.  But I will buy a few pints of Halo Top or a package of Oreos.

Thank you so much for reading!

xoxo, Hannah
