Fall 2018 Semester Snapshots

Since I basically didn't post all of this past semester, I thought I would do a quick recap of what I did!  Prepare for a long and picture heavy post!

I started out the semester by celebrating my 21st birthday with my friends from school!  My sorority does something called a "Paddle Party" when someone turns 21.  I joined together with five other girls in my pledge class who had birthdays over the summer so we could all celebrate together, and my best friend made my paddle for me!

With that, my birthday celebrations were officially over after three whole months!  I then spent the next few weeks as a Rho Gamma, or recruitment counselor.  This means that I disaffiliated from my sorority and had a small group of girls going through recruitment, and helped them find the best sorority for them.

I had so much fun getting to know so many other women in other sororities, and met people that I otherwise would not have been friends with.  I also helped the best group of girls find their own sororities, even though none of them ended up joining mine.

When my group got their bids, I revealed myself and was able to run home to my own sorority and celebrate my last Bid Day, which was incredibly fun and bitter sweet!  I may have even shed a few tears when my littles hugged me and welcomed me back home!

We had a safari/jungle theme which was probably my favorite theme out of my four years as a Gamma Phi Beta!  The best theme to have on my senior year Bid Day!

In case you didn't know, I'm a huge hockey fan!  My school's hockey home opener was against my favorite SEC school and the school that I ended up almost attending: Mizzou.  I had such a blast with my friends, the stands were packed with students, and Bradley ended up winning.  It hurt my Mizzou Tiger-loving heart a little bit, but I love my Bradley Braves!

The dance season also started up again!  We had our fall photo shoot where we all had such a blast taking head shots, fun dance pictures, and silly pictures with our friends.  I had missed dancing with these girls so much, and it was a great way to start getting to know the new freshman on the team.

It was also the start of exchange season!  Every school calls these something different, but basically every week we have an event with a different fraternity that is exclusive to that one sorority and fraternity.  There are themes and activities that are different each week and they are so much fun!  All of my guy friends are in the same fraternity, so I definitely made sure to attend that exchange, which was a blast.  And we had a fun theme: jerseys!

My room mate also (finally) turned 21 which was definitely a fun weekend full of celebrating!  I love this picture of my room mates and me, and it makes me remember that weekend and how much fun we had!

Next was our university's homecoming!  We always have a big stage show in front of Bradley Hall for our kickoff to homecoming and my dance team performs every year.  And let me just say, this performance was one of our very best!

If you can tell from the stage, we even threw some confetti during our performance, shocking the audience and making us stand out.  It was such a blast!

During my Fall Break, my mom, grandma and I went to Disney World as part of my birthday present.  We had never been in the fall before, so we definitely utilized my Fall Break for some Disney fun!  I had such a blast in my favorite place, and even wore a birthday button (doesn't matter that my birthday was in May and not October, lol).

Our first night, we had dinner at Kona Cafe in our hotel, The Polynesian.  We had some sushi and a Lapu Lapu, a delicious drink with rum and fruit juice inside a pineapple!  Definitely nothing better than that!

The next day we went to EPCOT, where I met up with my best friend from home who is doing the Disney College Program.  We drank around the World Showcase with my mom and grandma, and had an absolute blast!  We were there during Food and Wine Festival so there were a ton of different drinks and food that we wanted to try that isn't there when we usually go in the spring and summer.

The next day was something I had requested immediately once I knew we were going to Disney: breakfast at Trattoria al Forno in the Boardwalk Inn.  This is a character breakfast where you meet Rapunzel, Ariel, Eric, and, my favorite, Flynn Rider!  I wanted to eat here mainly to meet Flynn.  Tangled is my favorite Disney movie and you can't meet Flynn anywhere else.  He was so great and even showed me the crown in his satchel.  Our food was also very themed towards both Tangled and The Little Mermaid.

We used one of our mornings for the pool and rented a Cabana where they literally bring you food and drink!  It was absolutely amazing, and we weren't even mad that we relaxed all morning instead of going to a park.  Because that night we were going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!

The Magic Kingdom is my favorite park of all time, and every time we go I have to take a picture of the "Partners" statue with Cinderella's Castle in the background!

The three of us wore our matching Disney Halloween shirts for the party!

On top of the trick or treating stops, special snacks, and low crowds, a lot of the rides had special effects this year.  The Tea Cups had special "creepy" music and lighting, Space Mountain (my fave ride!) had creepy music and was completely in the dark, and Pirate of the Caribbean had real pirate actors in the queue and in the ride.

Our last morning came way too soon, and was spent in Animal Kingdom where we experienced Pandora for the first time.  Flight of Passage is one of the best rides and if you can get a fastpass for it, I highly recommend!

All too soon, I was back at school.  But, it was my last Big/Little week and we added my great-grand little to our fam!

I also saw A Star Is Born with my room mate, and oh my gosh was this movie good!  Definitely tears, but it was so amazing!

Halloweekend was such a blast!  I dressed up for two of the nights.  The first, was a Date Party for one of the fraternities on campus and I went with my best friend from home.  If you've seen How I Met Your Mother, you'll love our costumes!  We went as Ted Mosby and the Slutty Pumpkin from one of the Halloween episodes.

The next night, my room mates and I went as the Powerpuff Girls!  Everyone loved our costumes and we had such a blast both nights!

The next weekend I was able to go home, and what better way to spend a night at home than with your parents and their friends at Buffalo Wild Wing?  We had such a blast and I wouldn't have wanted to spend the weekend any other way!

The next weekend was my sorority's Semi-Formal.  I took one of my friends from my dance team, Mia (left), and the other girl, Mandie, is in my sorority and on our dance team with us!  We had a blast pulling out our dance moves, and probably had some of the best food ever: a mashed potato bar!

The first Saturday in December was my dance team's show!  We had tech week all week to prepare, and the show was so much fun and went so smoothly!  I love dancing with these girls, and they are some of my best friends.

December also brings Christmas-themed Date Parties!  I went with my best friend from home again, and it was such a fun way to get into the Christmas spirit, even though finals were quickly approaching!

After finals were over and I got home for Christmas break, I celebrated by going to a Blues game with my mom!  Although it was a Blues loss, we definitely had a lot of fun together!

While I was unpacking everything I brought home for break, my dog decided to snuggle up on my bed.  It was too cute to not take picture!

Lastly, I was asked to go to a Blues game with some of my friends from home.  I hadn't seen most of them since the summer since we all go to different schools and have different schedules, but we had such a blast laughing and watching hockey together!

We even brought home a Blues win in Overtime, meaning it was a very successful trip to the game!

This was such a fun first semester of senior year, and cannot believe that I only have one semester of college left.  As bittersweet as it is, I also need to start figuring out where I will be and what I will be doing after graduation during this next semester while also having fun with my friends and going to class.

I hope you enjoyed this post and had a great semester as well!

xoxo, Hannah
