My Hyram-Inspired Skin Care Routine
Please tell me I'm not the only one who has become obsessed with Hyram this quarantine? I originally found him from his TikTok but then started following his YouTube channel, and I have learned so much about my skin and skin care in general. I have oily, acne prone skin and my issue with my skin care lately is that I buy new products, they work great on my skin for awhile, and then they stop working. It has been so frustrating and I never knew what to do and what ingredients worked best for my skin and skin type. I also struggle with hormonal/cystic acne that turn into pigmentation scars (term learned from Hyram lol) so I've always been so self-conscious about them and never knew how to help them.
Enter: Skin Care with Hyram! I've learned that ingredients are so important, as well as acids, what products can and can't be mixed, and no fragrances! Also, sunscreen which I never wore daily before now. I love my new routine and although results are slow and steady, I can definitely notice a difference in how my skin looks and feels. Hyram also always talks about how skin care is about prevention and not immediate results. So even though results are coming as fast as I want, my skin is glowy, less red, and just overall feels healthier! I've been doing this routine for about a month now so I'm excited to see how my skin will continue to change.
MORNING
CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser for Normal to Oily Skin // I've been using CeraVe cleansers for years and I love them! They're dermatologist recommended which is why I was originally why I started using it, but Hyram also always recommends this brand. I have oilier skin, so I'm drawn to this one. It is so simple and although doesn't feel like it does that much, it feels so good and can definitely tell that it helps with my oiliness.
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum // This serum helps with skin congestion, regulates sebum production, and even has brightening benefits. AKA, perfect for dealing with my breakouts, pigmentation scars, and oily skin! I just use a few drops of this in the morning (don't let the dropper touch your skin!) and pat it into my face and neck. Absolutely love this stuff.
The Ordinary Moisturizing Factors + HA // Pretty sure this product is single-handedly saving my skin. I mean, I knew this skin care routine would benefit me in the long run and that results take time, but my skin literally changed in a week once I started using this. I have no more active pimples or breakouts, and my face feels so good after I put it on. I just put a pea-sized amount on my hand and rub it all over my face and neck. It's hydrating, but doesn't make my skin feel greasy. Just so soft, moisturized, and healthy.
CeraVe Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30 // I feel bad admitting that I just now started wearing SPF every day, but better late than never right? Another Hyram recommended product from CeraVe! It is very thick so you need to really rub it in your hands before putting it on your face. It also has a white cast since it's so thick, so be aware of that if you have darker skin.
NIGHT
CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser // Since this isn't as gentle as the foaming facial cleanser, I like to use this at night so that the product can really get to work at night! Salicylic Acid is really great for acne prone skin and really helps clean out your pores. I like using this at night to clean out my pores from everything it went through throughout the day, and I can definitely tell that it is working.
The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA or Neutrogena Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Spot Gel // This step depends on what my skin needs. If I feel like I need a little exfoliation and hydration, I use the lactic acid serum from The Ordinary. The serum is super lightweight (not as thick as the niacinamide) but very effective! Not as exfoliating as a face mask, but perfect for when your skin needs a little extra help. The HA also gives my skin a nice glow and just makes me look healthy overall. The bottle says to use this at night since your skin can be sensitive to the sun when using this. I use the Neutrogena spot treatment when I have a breakout or even just some stubborn redness. The packaging says it helps reduce redness in as little as two hours and I can definitely say that's true! It also feels super light but gets the job done. It also says you can use this 1-3 times throughout the day, but I don't want to dry out my skin so I just use this at night since it's a strong concentration of Benzoyl Peroxide and my skin can heal over night.
The Ordinary Moisturizing Factors + HA // My favorite part of my routine, both day and night!
ONCE A WEEK
The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution // I love this mask! I normally do this on Sundays to get a good exfoliating treatment before the start of a new week. This mask is very strong too so warning if you have really sensitive skin. On Sunday nights I cleanse my face, and then put a few drops and rub it all over my face. I then leave it on for 10 minutes before washing it off and then moisturizing. I don't use any of my serums afterwards because this is already a pretty high concentration of chemicals so I don't want to add any more of it to my skin. I made that mistake the first few times I used this mask and my skin freaked out, so now I make it much more simple!
Hope this was helpful and good luck to anyone else who is really struggling with their mask acne!
xoxo, Hannah
