What I'm Watching On Disney+
In case you didn’t know, my family and I (well, mainly my mom and I) are huge Disney fans. We love Disney World and try and go as often as we can. I also used to exclusively watch Disney Channel as a kid, and I have been missing so many classic Disney movies that have entered the Vault.
Enter, Disney+. Ever since the release date, I had been begging my mom to get it, and the only response I was getting was “Eventually”. Finally, after it had been out for about two weeks, my wonderful mother made the purchase. We are all so impressed with the service and the amount of movies and shows that are available. My family and I watch something together from Disney+ every single night, and my brother is even excited about it so he can binge all of the Marvel movies.

With the incredibly large amount of content available on Disney+, it’s so hard to figure out what exactly to start with. If I shared my list of what I want to watch on Disney+, we would be here forever (it’s 4 pages single-spaced...let that sink in). So instead, I thought I would share what I’ve started and watched so far. Both on my own, and as a family, so you can have a little more of an idea of what’s available. So, without further ado, here is my current watchlist on Disney+!
THE IMAGINEERING STORY // If you are a Disney World fan, this docu-series is for you. It’s about how the Disney Parks came about, starting with Disneyland. It’s a fascinating story of how Imagineers brought Walt’s vision to life, even after his death. My family and I are watching this together and we are absolutely loving it! We love seeing how our favorite attractions came about, and seeing the original videos from opening days of the parks. You also get to hear from Imagineers who worked with Walt and his brother Roy, and Imagineers who designed favorite rides such as Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Spaceship Earth, and more. It’s a Disney+ original so you do have to wait for each episode to come out, but they are well worth the wait!
ENCORE! // This is another Disney+ original for the theatre nerd, or a past theatre kid. The series is produced by Kristen Bell, and involves adults who performed a musical in high school to come back together and perform the show again, reprising their roles. As someone who did theatre in high school and in college for a short time, it is so cool to see the process and how these people who haven’t seen each other in years come back together, put on a great show again, and learn so much more about each other. It’s truly an amazing show.
LIZZIE MCGUIRE // You. Guys. I was obsessed with Lizzie McGuire as a kid and don’t think I’ve seen an episode in at least a decade. So when I saw that my favorite childhood show was coming to Disney+, I knew it would be the first nostalgic show I would watch, and it’s so funny watching it as an adult. The characters always seemed so much older to me, and now it’s crazy to see how young they actually were. It also seems way more dramatic than I remember it being, and Kate was way more of a mean girl than I thought. It’s also shocking to me that it’s only 2 seasons as well! Although it is very strange watching Lizzie McGuire as an adult, I still love it, and am now looking forward to the Disney+ reboot even more!
THE SANTA CLAUSE & THE SANTA CLAUSE 2 // Disney+ has an awesome selection of Christmas movies! We have a small TV in our kitchen that we like to put something on while we’re cooking or working in the kitchen. We put both of these movies on last week while making dinner and having wine, and it was the perfect Christmas-y ambiance.
MICKEY’S ONCE/TWICE UPON A CHRISTMAS // These were total throwbacks for us! My brother and I used to be obsessed with these movies and to be honest, if you had asked me what happened in the stories, I would have had a hard time telling you. But watching them brought so much back, and I remembered everything and will definitely be watching these again throughout the Christmas season!
I'm planning on watching the classic Disney movies next, starting with the ones released from the vault since I definitely haven't seen those in awhile. The child in me is very excited that this streaming service exists!
What have you been watching on Disney+, and is there anything I need to add to my list?
Xoxo, Hannah
