How I Celebrated My 21st Birthday
My birthday is my favorite day of the year, and I always love to have myself a day every single year. But, since this year was my 21st birthday, we had to make it even more special. My two room mates from school came down to St. Louis to spend my birthday with me and some of my friends from home, and we had a blast all weekend!
Friday night is when they came into town, so we just hung out in my pool, and had a relaxing night. On Saturday though, I had a touristy day planned since they had never been to St. Louis before. Two of my best friends from home, Robert and Logan, came with us this day since they both knew my room mates and to make the day even more fun.
Our first stop was the St. Louis Zoo. Our zoo was voted the best in the country, and is completely free to get in! It was wicked hot this day, so we only stayed for a few hours. We saw some great animals and had a blast, but our favorite part was getting a mixture of a piña colada mixed with a strawberry daquiri in a hollowed out pineapple. This came with pineapple rings as well and was so delicious and refreshing on this hot and humid day!
Next, we were planning on taking them up in the arch, but it was a 3 hour wait to go up. Um, no thanks. Instead, we went through the Old Courthouse. This is where the Dred Scott case happened during the Civil War, and is in the heart of downtown. There are great views of the city in here, plus there was air conditioning! My room mate, Neda, was especially excited about seeing this because she's going to law school in the fall and wants to eventually become a judge, so she loves to see court houses.
On the other side of the court house is the most photogenic place in all of St. Louis: Kiener Plaza. We took a million pictures and enjoyed the music that was being played around us.
It was a mimosa bar that had all different kinds of juice and fruits to put inside your mimosa and it was absolutely delicious!
After brunch, we decided to go to Ballpark Village and do some more eating and drinking! Ballpark Village is right next to Busch Stadium, where the Cardinals play. There was a day game on this day, so my mom had reserved a booth in the pavilion that has a giant TV playing the game, music all over, and smoke machines shooting out smoke whenever the Cardinals scored a run. It was so much fun and a great atmosphere to be in. My mom even said she wanted to book a booth when the Blues are in season to watch them play!
We had some delicious food like pizza, buffalo chicken nachos, and even a shot or two. We also explored around the Village and got to look inside the empty stadium, and the Cardinals Hall of Fame.
After awhile my family left to go back home, and my friends and I went across the street to the Hilton which has a famous rooftop bar called the 360. We ordered drinks, and the bartender even gave me an extra free one which was fun! We also had to take some cute pictures at the top.

Obviously had to get a cute solo shot!
The five of us (and my new phone background!)
My room mates and I. So grateful that they could be here this weekend!
After taking all of our pictures, we were starving. One of our favorite casual restaurants in the city was just half a mile away, so of course we had to take Neda and Malia there!
If you're ever in St. Louis, go to Sauce on the Side! It's a restaurant that makes gourmet calzones, and is absolutely to die for! I got my usual: the Cockadoodle Noodle which is a buffalo chicken and mac and cheese calzone. Absolutely amazing!
By now the heat was really starting to get to us, so we decided to get one more St. Louis staple before heading home: Ted Drew's! It is definitely the best frozen custard in the country, and I will fight anyone who says anything different!
After our delicious custard, we headed back to my house for a little swimming and relaxing. We got the famous Imo's pizza for dinner so that Neda and Malia could try authentic St. Louis style pizza. Robert and Logan came back over, and we watched movies and played games until it turned midnight and was officially my birthday!
My 21st birthday started out with my free birthday drink from Starbucks. Then my family, room mates and I headed to brunch at Sqwires where they have bottomless mimosas! The perfect way to celebrate being 21!

After this, we realized we were pretty done with drinking and decided to head back to my house for cake and sitting outside by the pool. I had requested my favorite flavor of cake, almond, and my mom instructed them to decorate it for the occasion. And it was so cute!
We called it a pretty early night, and Neda and Malia left around 6 in the morning the next day.
I had the best birthday weekend and could not have asked for better people to celebrate it with!
