Always Saying "Yes"

Image
Ever since my freshman year of college, my professors have always told us "say yes to every opportunity".  I remember sitting in class thinking, "That's dumb, why would I say yes to something I don't want to do?"  And because I didn't listen to this advice, I struggled throughout my first two years of college. If I didn't want to do something, I just decided to do something else or nothing at all.  And it wasn't just job related things, it was with sorority events, going out with my room mate and her friends, and even going to study or the dining hall with people.  Without even trying any of this, I said "no" because I decided that I "wasn't that person".  And because of this, my freshman year was miserable. My sophomore year I was living in my sorority house, and was determined to change this.  I wanted to have fun, make friends, and actually enjoy being at school.  And I finally stopped saying no.  I still wasn't...

Five Tips For Stressful Days

Image
As a second semester junior in college, I definitely know stress!  On top of my classes and homework, I also work on campus, am in a sorority, dance five times a week, and keep up with my chores at home.  This week in particular was incredibly hectic with two exams and three assignments due, on top of my normal weekly schedule.  Needless to say, I was stressed out and on the phone with my mom basically 24/7. So what are the best ways to deal with your stress?  Here's what I do: ONE // Don't Nap! This week I have been so  tired with my crazy schedule and I haven't been sleeping a whole lot.  So I napped twice.  And both times, I woke up feeling awful  and even more stressed out and frantic.  When you're not getting enough sleep and you take a nap, your body thinks it's going into a deep sleep, like when you go to bed for the night.  So then when you wake up later after not getting a full night's sleep, your body punishes you....

Little Love Letters

Image
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Tonight I'm celebrating by getting Mexican food with some of my favorite girls for a "Galentine's Day" and I could not be more excited!  Today is not only for couples, it's about spending time and appreciating everyone  that you love! In order to commemorate today, I thought I would write little one sentence love letters to some of my favorite things! Dear Gamma Phi Beta, Thank you for giving me my best friends and the best college experience. Dear Starbucks, You get me through almost every day, and I can't wait until I finally get my Gold Card. Dear Sushi, We have a love/hate relationship because I crave you all the time, but can't afford you as often as I want...still love you though. Dear Saint Louis, I miss you every day and treasure getting to come home to you and everyone in you. Dear Bed, You truly are my favorite hello and hardest goodbye.  Please don't ever change. Dear Dance, ...

College Morning Routine

Image
As a college student, my routine is pretty all over the place!  Some days I have early classes, and some days I have nothing until 3 pm so I stay in bed all day (it's the little things, I'm telling you).  Today I'm going to be talking about my routine that I have most often: when I have to be out the door at 8:45 am.  One day is for when I need to be at work by 9:00, and the other days are for my class at 9:00 am.  So without further ado, here is my morning! 7:00 AM  // My alarms begin to go off.  I am notorious for setting an alarm for when I need to get up, turning it off, and rolling over and going back to sleep.  Because of this, I usually have alarms set for 30 minutes before I need to get up, at 15 minute intervals.  So I have alarms set for 7:00, 7:15, and 7:30. 7:30 AM  // Shower time!  I have to shower in the mornings because other wise I feel gross all day.  I can't shower at night either because if I fall asleep wi...

College Room Tour

Image
I am so excited to be showing off my room today!  I absolutely love my room at school!  It is so me, and my favorite place to hang out. I live in an off campus house a street away from my university with two other room mates.  One of my room mates is graduating in the spring, but we found a third person for next year and I am so happy to be living here again for my senior year next year!  This is going to be super picture heavy and wordy, so apologies in advance!  So, without further ado, here is my room. First is my bed!  This is my old full bed from home, making it so  comfortable and familiar!  We also put on the memory foam mattress cover that I had freshman and sophomore year making my bed even more comfy!  My quilt and matching white sham are from Target, as are the cactus and pink pillows.  Actually, so is my body pillow and the fuzzy pink cover that I bought for it.  Target has the best  college items! I'm...

What's In My College Backpack?

Image
Since I just finished my first week of classes, I thought it was appropriate to show what I carry in my back pack throughout the semester! First, the backpack that I use.  It's a North Face backpack that I've been using since senior year of high school.  I originally got this backpack to use as extra storage and a carry on when I went to Europe the summer before my senior year of high school.  I've been using it for almost four years now and it has held up so great! I also have some buttons with my sorority on them, Gamma Phi Beta, that I got from my big during big/little week freshman year.  I also have hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works hanging off of my bag, and the pineapple holder is from Bath and Body Works as well! Laptop  // This is definitely a staple in every college student's back pack.  It is the 13 inch MacBook Pro and I got it in 2015 the month before I moved to college, and I love it!  The pink case is from Amazon (actua...

Back to College!

Image
As of yesterday, I am officially back at my university!  It's always so sad coming back and leaving my family, but I am also ready to get back into a routine and to see my friends! Yesterday morning I got up early to have coffee and breakfast at home with my mom before she went to work, and then finished packing.  My dad helped me load up my car, and then I just spent the late morning chilling out on my couch with my dad, brother, and dog soaking up the last couple of moments.  And then, it was time to get on the road. I go to school about two and a half hours away from where I live, which isn't a bad drive at all.  It was so exciting catching up with my room mates after not seeing them all break!  We unpacked, ate dinner, and then got ready for our first night out back at school! It was a much needed night of fun before classes start on Wednesday! Even though I still don't have class today doesn't mean that I'm still not busy!  I slept in ...
