November 2019 Goals

I always love the start of a new month. Although I know you don’t have to wait for a new month or year to start acting on goals, it gives me a good timeline to make sure all of my ducks are in a row so that I can hit the ground running on the first of the month. So without further ado, here are a few things that I have been wanting to accomplish as we get into November.

TRY A CYCLING CLASS //
I’ve always wanted to try cycling, but there’s no Soul Cycle in St. Louis and we have a CycleBar, but neither of them are close to where I live. However, I recently discovered a new studio that is literally 10 minutes from my house, and is not incredibly expensive for memberships or bulk classes. I’ve always thought about trying it out, but never made the jump to do so. So, for November, I want to take my first cycling class. I like work out classes so much better than working out at home or at the gym because I don’t have to pick out what type of workout to do or for how long. I also find that I don’t push myself as much when I work out at home or I just get plain bored. So hopefully by trying out a cycling class, I will find something that I love to do while also getting back in shape.

LEARN BASIC GRAPHIC DESIGN // As the time at my internship is coming to a close, I’ve been starting to meet with people in my office to talk about my future and just to network. All the stress of not having a job is coming back to me, and I want to feel confident and prepared for whatever may come next. I don’t know if I have ever said this before, but I really want to work in digital marketing and social media long term, and that means that I should at least be able to make some sort of creative graphics. I took one interactive media class my sophomore year of college, but haven’t used anything from it since, so I want to get some tips and start learning how to do some basic graphic design so that I can make a portfolio and market myself well as I begin to look for a job in the future.

SAVE MY MONEY // I know that goals are supposed to be something tangible but hey, it’s my blog and I’m doing this to keep myself accountable, so I can make the rules! Since I am not getting paid at my internship and am still trying to figure out my life after December, I need to concentrate now more than ever on saving some money. Now, I know I just talked about going to cycling classes but that is something that I think is worth spending the money on. I’m talking more like unnecessary impulse purchases, or going out to lunch or happy hours at work when I could be eating or drinking at home. I’ve been doing pretty good with this lately, but I think if I make a more conscious effort to do this and always deposit cash that I have in the bank, It could really make a big difference.

CUT DOWN ON SUGAR // This is something that is going to be very difficult this time of year since it is (almost) officially the holiday season and candy and treats are flowing! I realized the other day that I have just been consuming way too much sugar. Like by lunch time the other day, my stomach was hurting from the sugar I had eaten that day, and that’s just not okay. I don’t want to cut it out completely, just limit dessert or something sweet to once or twice per day. Not only will my stomach feel okay, but it will have an effect on my overall energy and mood, and health as well.

Let me know some goals that you have for November in the comments below!

Xoxo, Hannah
